ALEXANDRA HÄBERLI at GOWEN LAB
GOWEN LAB - Rue Jean-Calvin 4
For the first time, GOWEN opens a solo show with Swiss artist Alexandra Häberli (b. 1983, Schaffhausen). On view at GOWEN LAB, the gallery’s second space dedicated to alternative, complementary presentations, the exhibition features selected works which highlight the artist’s unique approach to exploring landscape, nature and architecture.
Incorporating painting and sculpture, Häberli’s works, often produced using a combination of acrylic, graphite, and colour pencil on PVC, create hybrid forms that blur the boundaries between surface and structure. At the heart of her artistic inquiry is the composition and construction of landscapes which weave together architectural or geometric elements and natural references into abstract topographies.
By re-examining the spaces we inhabit, Häberli encourages the viewer to shift observations, recognize the interplay between perception and experience, and understand the ways in which these spaces, in turn, shape us.
The gallery’s main space at Grand-Rue 23 continues its group show With my Body featuring Bruno Gadenne, Ayana V. Jackson, Roméo Mivekannin, Sophie Ryder, and Marta Zgierska (extended until November 29).
