Maison Rousseau et Littérature

Musée au service de l'art, des littératures et de la pensée de Jean-Jacques Rousseau

The Maison Rousseau et Littérature, located in the heart of Geneva's Old Town in the house where Jean-Jacques Rousseau was born, is a six-story house ready to welcome you. Its ambition: to participate in this "central laboratory" of the human being that is literature. To serve the literatures of French-speaking Switzerland, Switzerland, the French-speaking world and the rest of the world; to confront them with current events or the great questions of our time, but also with the work and the modernity of Rousseau; and to bring together in one place writers, translators, readers of all ages and origins, students, artists and thinkers, to engage in debate.

Interweaving tradition and contemporary creation, moving from books to the Internet, from novels or great narratives to essays or poetry, the MRL’s vocation is to establish a network of all forms of literature that flows through generations, so that these generations can confront great authors from past or present and debate, or practice writing.
