TRIBUTE TO JACQUES BENADOR
A trip to the land of truth

Quoting André Lhote, Jacques Benador had surpassed: If the anecdote is stronger than the pictorial means, the painter is not worthy of interest.

Requirement, rigor, acuity...

Obviously inhabited by his subject, Jacques Benador made authority more than fifty years.

Fervent admirer of Surrealism, Max Ernst, Yves Tanguy, Kurt Seligmann discovered in the immediate post-war period, he fought to impose artists now as unanimously respected as Hans Bellmer, Fernand Leger, Jean Fautrier, Hans Hartung, Sam Francis, among others. Artists of whom many were his friends.

From September 22 to November 19, 2022, the Schifferli Gallery will pay tribute to Jacques Benador and present works by Tal Coat, Pietro Sarto, Edmond Quinche, Hans Hartung, Charles Rollier, Asger Jorn, Bram van Velde, Pierre Alechinsky, Jean Fautrier, Antonio Saura, Geneviève Asse, Louis Soutter, Maryan, Alexei von Jawlensky, Paul Klee.

The Surrealist movement will be represented by drawings and photographs of Hans Bellmer, Max Ernst, Victor Brauner and Kurt Seligmann.

Given the intimate space of the gallery, the exhibitions will be renewed every three weeks.
