THE SECRET OF COLOURS
Ceramics in China and Europe from the 18th Century to the Present

The Baur Foundation, Museum of Far Eastern Art has a remarkable collection of eighteenth-century enamelled porcelain whose pieces have rarely been exhibited in their own right.

By taking colour as its theme, this exhibition aims to place these works in the context in which they were created: research, experimentation, trial and error, imitation and adaptation that together led to the development of new colours.

The investigations carried out a century later at the Sèvres Manufactory to discover the secrets of Chinese colours were an echo of that research. This same quest is continued today in the works of Fance Franck and Thomas Bohle.
