Since his early days, Marc Ferroud has been drawing curves, ellipses and arabesques in space, using steel wire as his material of choice. He creates forms that seem to give contours to the air, light, aerial sculptures for which Alain Jouffroy coined the term aérotecture: "Aérotecture evokes an aerial construction in which air, space, depth and line are absolutely predominant, as opposed to the importance traditionally given by sculptors to volume and mass".
The material Ferroud uses today is less flexible, an S 355 steel bar, but he nevertheless continues to draw in space by assembling and riveting segments of steel bar, creating sculptures that are as perfect and imposing on a small scale as they are on a large one. This is Penser Grand.
