Opera Gallery Geneva presents from September 22 to October 22, 2022 an exhibition dedicated to the contemporary Colombian artist Fernando Botero, featuring more than fifteen works on canvas, paper and sculptures.
A multi-faceted creator, influenced by the Italian Renaissance, pre-Columbian art and the folklore of his native country, Botero has developed his own distinctive style, dissociable from any artistic trend. With a pinch of irony, emotion and ingenuity, he explodes the forms, he abolishes the proportions by the deformation of volumes. His characters and objects are only roundness, elephantine forms, generous, voluptuous and sensual but with precise details.
This giant has created in seventy years of work, an original and unique work through which, in the image of his larger than life characters, he dominates his time.
